iHelp partner introduction – FPG

Fondazione Policlinico Universitario “A. Gemelli” (FPG) was founded in 1964 and is one of the leading medical centers in Italy where research, teaching, and clinical assistance work mutually for the patient. FPG provides healthcare to approximately 95,000 Inpatients and 250,000 outpatients per year.

In 2018 FPG has been recognized by the Italian Ministry of Health as an IRCCS (Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico), a status granted to hospitals of excellence that have achieved high levels of healthcare and research.

The Imaging, Radiotherapy, Oncology, and Haematology Department is the most important multidisciplinary cancer center in Italy for the large number of cases treated where the most advanced therapies and technologies serve innovative models of care.

The area of Oncological Radiotherapy – GEMELLI ART (Advanced Radiation Therapy) provides, for hospitalized cases or outpatients, cutting-edge treatments from the clinical and technological point of view, according to the latest guidelines of minimally invasive interventional cancer therapies.

Two years ago, the Gemelli Generator Info Science Center was born within the FPG.  The Center is a pioneering scientific center with multidisciplinary skills for enhancing the expertise and data assets of Fondazione Policlinico Gemelli. One of its facilities, Real World Data facility, specializes in the extraction, analysis, and processing of large volumes of heterogeneous data from different sources through advanced Artificial Intelligence and machine learning techniques.

FPG, in view of its clinical and technical expertise, plays a leading role in one of the iHelp pilot studies aiming to predict pancreatic cancer patients at high risk of radiotherapy toxicity using clinical and behavioral data collected and analyzed using the iHelp platform.
